The city of Edinburg is conveniently located within access to Interstate Highway (IH) 69. Interstate Highway 69C runs concurrent with U.S. 281 north from IH 2 at Pharr 17.6 miles to FM 490 by South Texas International Airport at Edinburg (EBG). The four to six lane freeway runs the height of Edinburg, bypassing the city center to the east. U.S. 281 extends north as a four lane, divided highway to a grade separated interchange with SH 186 and the Brooks County line.
The easy access to the Mexican Border is thru U.S. Route 281 (24 miles from Edinburg) with Tamaulipas State. U.S. has two southern termini. The western terminus, known as International Blvd. in Hidalgo, begins from the McAllen – Hidalgo International Bridge. The southern eastern terminus of U.S. 281 is in Brownsville, TX (66. Miles from Edinburg), just short of the Mexican border ending on Bus. 77. The two spurs come together at South Cage Blvd. in Las Milpas, TX going north into Pharr, TX. Thus, U.S. 28 is the only continuous three-digit US route to extend from the Canadian border to the Mexican Border.

This bridge connects the cities of Pahrr, Texas with the city of Reynosa in Tamaulipas.
This bridge connects to U.S. route 281 via Texas State Highway Spur 600. On the Mexican side , it provides access to Mexican federal Highway 2. The bridge handles the commercial and passenger vehicles.

Located nine-miles north of downtown Edinburg, the STIA – EBG is the northernmost jet-capable airport which provides business class aviation access to the Rios Grande Valley. It is geographically positioned within 25-miles of the Mexican border and conveniently adjacent to the US Highway 281 (I-69) and FM 490 – the future outer loop which will connect five border ports entry.

The Harlingen Seaport is 47 miles away and is one of the ports with the greatest potential to become a major trading area in the next 20 years.
It has a capacity to transport two million tons of any product and an area of 354 acres.
Its best performance was in 2020, when 150,000 tons of sugar, 110,000 tons of agricultural fertilizers and 1.1 million tons of fuel were transported and stored.
