The Mission Economic Development Corporation (Mission EDC), Workforce Solutions and CyberMission have teamed up to host an information technology (IT) job fair, which was held at the Center for Education and Economic Development ( CEED).

More than a dozen employers and approximately 70 job candidates gathered at CEED on August 17 to share resumes and network with colleagues from the tech community.

“It has been exciting to witness the transformation that the RGV technology community has undergone in the last five years,” said Daniel Rivera, director of marketing and programs for Mission EDC.

He added that events like the job fair serve as an important step in collective efforts to grow and promote a strong and highly-skilled RGV technology workforce.

According to data obtained from the results of the fair, nationwide employment in the IT industry is growing by 13%, adding around 670,000 new jobs by 2030.

“There are so many benefits to attending an event like this, we see and meet people who are passionate about IT. We not only assist to find candidates for vacancies, but also to endorse those talents that can provide services in this area in any company”, commented Luis González, director of information security at South Texas College.

Finally, Mariana Nino, operations manager at the ZOHO company , mentioned that this fair allows, in addition to meeting future candidates who can develop in the company in this area, to make connections with other businesses.
