McAllen, Texas's strategic location offers several competitive advantages for attracting new industries and logistics companies. With its proximity to airports, international bridges, highways, and the Mexican border, it ensures economic development in the face of nearshoring, workforce expansion, and efficient foreign trade processes.
Susie Flores, Director of Business Recruitment at McAllen Economic Development Corporation (McAllen EDC), explained that in addition to infrastructure, they offer various incentives and advisory programs to facilitate the process of establishing a presence in the city.
Industrial Availability
Through personalized support, companies can secure cash resources tailored to their project needs. By collaborating with the EDC, they gain access to information regarding industrial availability, land, warehouses, or specialized sites. The city also provides housing, schools, hospitals, and various other services. "When an investor shows interest and establishes themselves here, we consider them part of our family. We provide that human touch so that when they arrive in McAllen, they feel at home," she mentioned during her participation in the second edition of Mujeres Líderes Binacionales.
One Unified Region
McAllen's strengths lie in its logistical capabilities and promoting South Texas, which shares a border with Mexico through one unified region. As a result, in various meetings and working groups, their focus on companies interested in establishing a binational presence remains constant, along with the development of strategies that foster greater confidence among the business sector.
International Competence
"What we share is more than just a culture; we have mutual interests, international relationships, treaties, bridges, and highways that provide us with international competence. To be more appealing, we must view the Mexican border as one unified region with us," she concluded.
