Industry leaders participate in the STC Learning Summit

South Texas College (STC) hosted the South Texas Learning Summit, an event that brought together top industry leaders with representatives from the public and private sectors.
This summit was held on November 17, during National Apprenticeship Week, which highlighted the importance of apprenticeship programs that go hand in hand with the manufacturing industry and how they are necessary in a changing economy. .
STC's commitment is to work hand in hand with companies that employ thousands of young people, and it is key for this educational institution to provide relevant experience to improve their careers.
The event highlighted the intervention of Keith Patridge, president and CEO of the McAllen Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), who has highlighted the importance of apprenticeship and training programs for the development of skills.
These apprenticeship programs and manufacturing go hand in hand and represent an important facet of industrial development in the binational region.
Keith Patridge served as a panelist sharing the benefits of apprenticeship programs for business and industry.
“Our industry community continues to take advantage of the resources of both the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and South Texas College to ensure they are developing candidates with strong knowledge who have an interest in development. of critical skill sets that continue to generate manufacturing opportunities in South Texas and Northern Mexico,” he said.
Patridge, on behalf of MEDC, thanked the leadership of Julián Álvarez, TWC Commissioner, and Dr. Ricardo J. Solís, STC President, for supporting the industry through these important programs.
