Gregg Abbot visits Harlingen to commemorate Texas Manufacturing Month

The team from the Economic Development Corporation of Harlingen , Texas (HEDC), received a visit from the state governor, Gregg Abott, at the ITD Precision Stampings company , one of the various manufacturing industries that the city has and that are part of the economic development and competencies of Rio South Texas.

To commemorate the month of manufacturing activity and the reach of the “Made in Texas” brand, the president participated in a tour accompanied by Orlando Campos, CEO of HEDC, and the vice president of operations of ITD Precision Stampings, Scott Hays, state officials , as well as other business leaders in the region. 

During his message he recognized Texas' contribution to the United States and global economy, through manufacturing. 

“We are proud of what manufacturers do for our state, Texas has been built thanks to manufacturing activity; In addition, it has the best workforce in the entire United States and is constantly developing new professionals with innovation, ingenuity and ethics, which is why we celebrate the spirit of manufacturing here.”

 

Harlingen, ideal place to invest

He recognized that Harlingen is an ideal place to invest, having companies with international manufacturing processes installed and industrial parks with great capacity, in addition to having land for new constructions. “Texas manufacturing has led the nation in exports for 21 consecutive years and is supported by 920,000 Texas workers,” he added. 

The work carried out by the HEDC in attracting new manufacturing companies and in the permanence and success of those that are already established, were other aspects that it recognized and that Orlando Campos has set as a priority objective. 

During Abbott's visit to Harlingen, a proclamation was also signed recognizing October 2-9, 2023 as manufacturing week in Texas. 

Additionally, the governor congratulated the HEDC team for obtaining the $1.6 million grant for the development of an industrial park, which will give new competitive advantages to industries.
